In celebration of International Grenache Day (18th September), we’re dedicating an evening to one of the wine world’s most versatile — and underrated — grape varieties.
Grenache is capable of producing everything from light, juicy and vibrant reds to richer, fuller-bodied and more powerful wines depending on where it’s grown and what it’s blended with. But while it can absolutely shine on its own, it’s perhaps most famous for how brilliantly it works with other grapes.
This tasting explores both sides of Grenache: varietal expressions that showcase the grape in its purest form, alongside some of the iconic blends where Grenache plays a leading role — from Southern Rhône GSM blends to bold Châteauneuf-du-Pape styles and juicy Spanish Garnacha wines.
We’ll taste wines from different regions and styles, exploring why Grenache is such a popular blending grape — bringing warmth, generous fruit, spice, softness and body, while helping create wines that feel balanced, expressive and incredibly drinkable.
Expect everything from lighter, fresher and more delicate styles through to deeper, more structured and heavier reds, alongside plenty of ripe red fruit, herbs, spice and Mediterranean character.
